More about Margaret's Waltz

Alan Winston writes:

"The dance was composed in 1959. (So was the tune, which has escaped into the wild and is now considered to be an American folk tune by at least some of the old-timey crowd; as a result, the tune has turned up on an episode of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." That's the Pat Shaw tune, not the Mozart tune John set it to.) It commemorates the retirement of Margaret, uh, Grant, I think, who was secretary of the Devon chapter of EFDSS, or so the Community Dances Manuals claim."
