The Elegant Arts Society presents an
1880s Victorian Ball
with the delightful music of Spare Parts
Saturday, March 29, 2008
8:00 - 11:00 pm
Pratt Hall ~ 311 Temple Street ~ New Haven, Connecticut
Ladies, bring your bustles!
Celebrate the coming of spring with the ladies and gentlemen of The Elegant Arts Society at a
Victorian ball in the style of the 1880s, the last triumphant era of
the bustle, at beautiful Pratt Hall! Enjoy the lively dance music of Spare Parts and the
precepting of Susan de Guardiola at an evening of waltzes, polkas, and
schottisches, plus the intricate Polo Quadrille and the lively "Star"
cotillion!
Costume of the 1880s is admired but not required; formal wear is
requested. Please bring indoor or freshly-cleaned shoes so as not to
damage the beautiful dance floor. Delicious Victorian refreshments
will be served!
No partner is required and beginners are welcome! A free workshop in the
dances of the era will be offered the afternoon of the ball from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the ball site.
Pre-registration price for the ball is $25 per person; $15 if under
21; $30 at the door. A printable registration form is here. Please make checks payable to The Elegant Arts
Society and mail with name(s), address, and email of registrants to
P.O. Box 1186, New York, NY 10159. Advance registration is fully
refundable through March 22, 2008; after that, credit towards future
EAS events or workshops only.
A downloadable event flier is here. For more information, please
